The purposes
of this challenge Cup are to (a) honor the seafaring traditions
of our ancestors by fostering the sailing skills of subsequent generations, and (b) encourage
communication among and social gatherings of members of the
Brown clan.
The first
cup race took place
at a family reunion/regatta in Marblehead,
Ohio (USA) with the actual sailing on Sandusky Bay. Vicki
Foster won the first challenge on July 1, 2007. Look
for a full report and pictures in our scrapbook section.
The second challenge was held at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut, August 22-24, 2014. Highlights of the event included a catboat race on the Mystic River, rambles through the seaport, rowing in authentic whaleboats, a picnic at ye olde Sawmill Park in Ledyard, and an all around good time. Pictures and stories are in the scrapbook.
